The Field Museum of Natural History will host a free outdoor screening of The LEGO® Movie 2: The Second Part (2019) later this month and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Men in Black next month as part of the Fossils & Flicks series. These events pair a theatrical feature film with a short educational film on a scientific topic. Fossils & Flicks: Lego Movie 2 will be on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, which is also one of the Illinois Resident Free Days that week. Fossils & Flicks: Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse will be on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 and Fossils & Flicks: Men in Black will be on Wednesday, July 10, 2019.
The events will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the screening starting at 7:00 p.m. Films from Men in Black to A Bug’s Life are screened on The Field Museum’s northeast terrace as part of the Fossils & Flicks series. Family-friendly activities include a specimen cart, a hands-on “Dino Dig” (simulated paleontological dig), and lawn game.
Fossils & Flicks events are free. Registration is not required. If one has a question, one should call (312) 665-7600.
The Field Green Bar & Grill offers food and drinks for purchase, including The Field Museum’s own Tooth & Claw brew and handmade pizzas. No outside food or beverage is allowed at the event. At the end of the evening, guests are welcome to view the Navy Pier fireworks display after each movie.
The Field Museum has over 30,000,000 artifacts and specimens. Over 150 scientists, conservators, and collections staff members work there.
